Tall Tales & Short Stories

Bayonne, New Jersey.

What an interesting place for a kid to grow up. Just across the Hudson from New York City. To the west, factories and refineries define the Jersey Turnpike and Newark area (think The Sopranos). And south, over the Bayonne Bridge, welcome to the Jersey shore and the land of Springsteen and Bon Jovi. Growing up there, a songwriter was destined to find inspiration.

My dad studied voice at the famed Julliard School of Music. My Uncle Larry was a gifted jazz guitarist. Like them, I found music addictive. So throughout high school, I played in a bunch of garage bands and then went the singer-songwriter route in college. Eventually, I realized that short fingers are clearly better suited to holding a pencil than a guitar neck, so I put my focus on songwriting.

Over the years, I got better at this “writing thing” and even won some awards including finalist in both the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest and the NSAI-sponsored Anthem Entertainment Challenge. I currently serve as a Co-Coordinator for the Washington, DC Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and a member of ASCAP.

Enjoy the music.
